EDA Leadership Program Grades 6-12
We strongly believe in building leaders through the dance experience. Students have great opportunities to fully invest themselves in EDA’s mentoring program by applying to become a student director, mentor, or an assistant. Click on the links below for a detailed description of the three different types of programs that we offer. Any EDA student that ranges between the grade levels of 6-12 is welcomed to apply.
**Students who are interested in the Leadership Program must enroll in choreography and company classes.
**Due Date: Students who are interested will apply every year before July 1st.
Requirements to apply
- Must be going into grades 6-12 for the year of submitting application
- Must complete 2 teacher recommendation forms
- Must love learning, connecting and helping others
- August-May full term commitment
What to apply for?
Student Directors: 2 Students (Annually)
- Attendance is key criteria
- Enrolled in choreography & company class
- Upholds an encouraging atmosphere
- Reports to EDA director daily
- Collaborates with EDA director on decisions
- Plans & organizes recitals
- Integrates creative ideas for EDA enhancement
- Active in community events
- Personifies grit, grace, generosity, & gratitude
- Opportunities to teach class
- Consults mentors & assistants
Mentors: 6 Students (Annually)
- Attendance is key criteria
- Enrolled in choreography & company class
- Reports to student directors weekly
- Collaborates with leadership team
- Integrates creative ideas for EDA enhancement
- Active in community events
- Personifies grit, grace, generosity, & gratitude
- Opportunities to co-teach class with directors
Assistants: 10 Students (Annually)
- Attendance is key criteria
- Enrolled choreography & company class
- Reports to student directors weekly
- Collaborates with leadership team
- Personifies grit, grace, generosity, & gratitude
- Flexible to fills needs as presented
- Willingness to acquire skills from the leadership team
- Opportunity to advance as a mentor or student director
